...have a John Stine tribute post?

So, I was watching the Soup on E! today and they played an Oprah clip that Jstine would likely have a field day with. At the end of an interview with Madonna about her controversial adoption, Oprah asked Madonna what she had to say to "all the people that have made this into a media story like we have never seen." To paraphrase, Madonna replied "shame on you." Now granted, Oprah mentioned the media that has accused Madonna of doing this as a publicity stunt, but apparantly Oprah is no longer a member of the media and is not included in media frenzies. I saw this and wondered what John would have to say. Please see the video below, starting at 2:00.

SCOREBOARD:

Michigan 17 Northwesterrn 3

OSU 44 Minnesota 0

USC 33 Oregon St. 35

Brian/Brian/Kevin 7 John/Ellis/Jason 4 *game tied due to tie in OT

GAME SUMMARY

The game took place under near-perfect weather conditions. The sky was blue and it was a great day for football. The winds were gusting from the South East a bit but died down as the game progressed. The field conditions were rough due to the rain the previous couple of days. A combination of muddy field and old sneakers (which the equiptment manager had convinced them were "much better in mud than cleats...trust me") made for limited mobility. On an unrelated note, the equiptment manager has just been fired.

The game began as a 2 on 2 jaunt pitting the Brians again John and Jason. Ellis then joined the fray and became all-time offense. The combination of John Ellis and Jason proved to be too smart for their own good. Offensive huddles took 2-3 minutes and often ended in a sack due to overcomplicated plays. In addition, Brian H had 2 interceptions for touchdowns during this period.

On the other side of the ball, the punt return for Brian Brian and Ellis was on and off. Attempting the hook-and-ladder style return, they once scored a touchdown thanks to Ellis' quickness and once, well, threw the ball back and forth to each other until the defense got down the field and tackled them.

Once Kevin came, he joined the Brians and it was a true 3 on 3 competition. Highlights of the battle included a tough goal line stand by the EKJ defense, stopping two Brian H rushes at the goal line. (the second play was reviewed and since there was no indisputable video evidence, the call on the field stood). After receiving the ball again, Brian H led a Brady Quinn like march down the field with his hurry-up offense. Kevn and Brian M both caught multiple passes including a touchdown catch for Kevin.

In overtime, Kevin once again was a touchdown recipient as Brian M's coverage was very tight. On the other side, a series of miscues left it at 4th and goal. Brian H broke up a pass to Jason and then dropped a would-be game-ending interception. John dropped a game-tieing touchdown pass. Finally, Ellis ran for a disupted touchdown similar to Brian H's rush previously. Once again, the call went to EKJ resulting in a tie in overtime. A grudge match date has not yet been set.

Special mention goes to John for his "hot rod, hot rod" snap cadence, to Brian M for the long touchdown catch of the day, and to Ellis, the decided MVP of the game (absolutely not sarcasticly! (nor was that)).

...take a look back

As for my March 3 entry on dating...I still firmly believe that. It's a solid theory I feel. Look at that again, it's quality. Unlike the crap I've been writing lately....someone had to say it.

...have nothing to say?

I'm sorry I've been so boring on my blog everyone. I've been keeping myself so busy that not only do I not have time to write stuff, nothing has really been happening for me to write about. However, we are now 11 days from the greatest stretch of time ever invented. Yes, the stretch from Oct 31-Jan 1 is perhaps the best 2 months a guy could ask for. However, such joy comes with a price. In order to enjoy this time of year, the following sacrifices/feats of self control must be maintained. Here it goes:

Oct 31 - Halloween, not such a big deal for me. However, this is when fall unofficially starts for me. This marks the time that I can start listening/playing music from Vince Guaraldi, best known for his scoring of the Peanuts television specials. Why can I start now? I'm not really sure, though it most likely stems from the fact that It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown starts the 3 important Peanuts specials (this year marks the 40th anniversary).

Thanksgiving - A wonderful holiday in its own right. Also, this marks the time that I can begin to enjoy CHristmas media of all kinds. This doesn't only include Christmas music, but somewhat related movies such as When Harry Met Sally, Elf, and others.

Christmas - no more christmas music after today. Sadness.

New Years - back to school in 2 days..guess I'll have to wait til next year.

And how is this all set up? I can't do any of these activities throughout the entire year. Lot's of self control!
